It
has been said that one of Scotland's greatest exports has
been its people. The Cape Fear river region of North Carolina
is an area that has greatly benefited from this export, in
particular during the 18th, and early 19th Century.
These early immigrants had a very significant influence upon
the subsequent development of southeastern North Carolina.
Some of these early Scot settlers later migrated westward,
but many of their descendants continue to live nearby.
The focus of this site is on places and events in the Cape
Fear region of North Carolina that should be of interest to
anyone desiring to learn more about their heritage, and wishing
to expand their knowledge of Scots in North Carolina. Also,
to be included in this focus will be some of the rich cultural
resources these early Scotch settlers left to posterity. |
